An electronic lock still depends on alignment, a sound frame and compatible door preparation. Binding can increase operating effort and may interfere with reliable function. Review the actual hardware instructions and door condition before selecting a device. Adding technology is not a substitute for repairing a damaged receiving structure or a door that cannot close properly.
Power sources, alerts and backup access differ by product. Know the manufacturer's procedure before a battery or connectivity issue occurs. Keep private access information secure rather than printing codes in a publicly shared home record. A connected feature should be evaluated separately from the lock's basic ability to operate locally and safely.
Occupants must be able to leave as required under applicable rules, including during a power problem. Consider mobility and household use when reviewing controls. Maintain the device on its specified schedule and record model information. Changes to exit hardware, rental properties or special occupancies may have additional requirements that a generic product description does not address.
Do not modify locks in a way that obstructs emergency exit. Device setup does not certify security or code compliance. Structural, electrical and occupancy-specific questions need appropriate qualified guidance and local verification.
